Gamification Is Boosting Employee Engagement to Combat Stress and Burnout

Workplace Gamification

Employees have become increasingly detached from their work and organization’s purpose, while feeling less supported and cared for by their colleagues or managers.

As employee engagement hit an 11-year low in 2024, employers are turning to innovative solutions to increase employee engagement and combat stress and burnout.

As implied by its name, workplace gamification involves introducing gaming elements into a professional setting. But unlike traditional gaming, which is purely for entertainment, workplace gamification is designed to drive motivation, increase productivity and enhance employee engagement by turning work tasks into more interactive and rewarding experiences. The elements of gameplay in business can be introduced to situations like onboarding, collaboration and teamwork, management, sales and brainstorming processes.

A gamified workplace increase employee happiness by 89%,  productivity by 90% and engagement by 48%.

Not only is gamification proven to boost employee engagement and happiness, but it’s also delivering tangible benefits to the bottomline. As businesses adopt gamification at a growing pace, experts predict that the international gamification market will grow at an annual rate of 27.4% between 2020 and 2025, expanding from $9.1 billion in 2020 to an estimated $30.7 billion by 2025.
